If you're streaming it for the first time and don't find that section scary while you're reading your chat with silly sub alerts, etc, I don't find that criticism nearly as useful. If you don't find the second section of the game scary, that's fine. While some people might not find the game scary (to each their own), the last person I want to get information on a game like this is somebody who constantly is thanking subs/follows and basically being taken out of the game as a whole. Streamers are generally a terrible way to get information on games that are suppose to be atmospheric or have the word 'horror' associated with it any fashion. I'd go with user reviews almost all of the time anyway. Capcom also had the balls to do something they've never done in any major RE titles I can think of: Killing a main protagonist. The major twist at the end is actually pretty good IMO and makes complete sense in the context of 7 and 8. All of those things brought up do get explained towards the end of the game though, and the game gets 'grounded' into the reality of a virus/parasite fucking things up, just like the original titles. A common criticism I see is that we've moved away from zombies and into the land of vampires/werewolves/magic (like a make believe world with zombies is more believable, lol). 7 and 8 flow really well together, and while some of the plot points linking things together are pretty weak, most of it gets explained. The fourth area has a few areas where you fight upwards of twenty monsters in quick succession and the final area kind of unloads as well (but this always happens in RE games, the mine area at the end of 7 is super action oriented). Prior to the fourth boss area most sections have you fight just a few monsters at a time (which is on pace with most games in the OG series), with few areas offering monsters in quantities of 6 and above. There are several big sections in the game where you fight hoards of monsters (although the opening sequence really shouldn't count), but that's about it. I fail to see how this gets labelled as a super action heavy game, because to me it really isn't. It's a mix of 4 and 7, with some concepts from RE2/RE3 mixed in.

Scary is subjective though from browsing peoples opinions on it, but to me I fail to see how the OG ones were ever really that scary and this was when I was 12 years old. 8 is atmospheric, isn't as slow paced, does have plenty of jump scares and one section is pretty scary. 7 is atmospheric and personally scary than any of the original ones, with way more jump scares and slow moving game play, but again, it becomes less scary about half way through (basically after you fight the second boss). Won't talk about 5 and 6, but RE4 was never once scary to me aside from the design of one boss later in the game and the regenerators. To me most of the games lose their scary factor half way through (sometimes earlier). Personally 4 for me is a great game, it's just not a great RE game. Most people unilaterally dislike 5-6 if you're an OG player, with 4 ultimately being a tipping point. You have hipsters who are stuck in fixed camera angles and tank controls who have played since the beginning who hate anything beyond the third one, and you still have a giant subset of the community who has played since the beginning who likes the originals, but also like 7-8. I figured a gothic RE would be right up my alley, and it looks like many in the community agree, with solid user reviews across the net.It really depends what you like and I think this community is so split. I reordered today based on community reaction being much more positive than initial critical reviews(which were good).
